Lynda Carter
Carter was born in Phoenix (Arizona) as the daughter of Juanita Cordova and Colby Carter. Her father is English as well as Scots Irish Her ancestry is Scots Irish and English and her mother is Mexican and Spanish. She has one brother, Vincent and one sister, Pamela. Carter aged 5 made her public television debut at Lew King's Talent Show. Carter was a member of Just Us during high school. The band played a marimba, a conga drum as well as an acoustic guitarist and a stand-up bass which was played by a different girl in the group. Lynda began singing in a pizza shop at the age of 15. When she was 16, Lynda joined two cousins in forming another bandcalled The Relatives. Actor Gary Burghoff was the drummer for the group. The band was first introduced in Las Vegas at the Sahara Hotel and Casino Lounge. Carter was 21 years old when she was seated in the kitchen. She was named "Most Talented" and decided to go into music. Carter auditioned in the year 1970 and was on tour with The Garfin Gathering's bandleader Howard (Speedy), Garfin. Their first concert together was in the Holiday Inn Chinatown in San Francisco, which was so brand new that it didn't have sidewalks. They performed mostly for hotel staff and guests who parked their vehicles underground. The Garfin Gathering performed shows throughout the Nevada "Silver Circuit" and also in many of Nevada's casino lounges. Carter chose to walk away from the Garfin Gathering in 1972 to pursue acting and went back to Arizona.
