She is famous for her performance as Willie Scott, an American nightclub performer and singer in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), which was directed by her eventual husband Steven Spielberg. In the years since, she was a part in Dreamscape (1984), Power (1986), SpaceCamp (1986), Black Rain (1989), Love Affair (1994), Just Cause (1995), and The Love Letter (1999). Capshaw her portraits have been displayed at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery Capshaw was born Kathleen Sue Nail in Fort Worth Texas. She is the daughter of Beverley Sue Simon (nee Simon), a beautician and travel agent as well as Edwin Leon Nail, an employee of the airline. She moved to St. Louis, Missouri at the age of five, and was a graduate of Hazelwood Senior High School in 1972. Capshaw earned a degree from the University of Missouri in education. She was also a member of Alpha Delta Pi. She taught Special Education at Southern Boone High School in Ashland, Missouri, and Rock Bridge High School in Columbia, Missouri.
